As I reflect on this week, I have noticed that while it felt productive and potentially like I am “catching up” and getting in a groove with my kids at home for the summer. I am also feeling a bit overwhelmed as I look at the Completely FULL next 10 weeks and I wonder… why? 🧐

Why do we only get maybe 10 weeks to really “catch up” and enjoy our family? Ugh… I don’t mean to pout… but seriously. Does anyone else feel this way? Probably not, because if you did you would be homeschooling your children, right?

We are only about a week into the whole kids are home for the summer and I now completely understand what a miracle it was that I had the strength to drown out the noise of the naysayers and dive in to homeschool my kids anyway. 👏

Sadly most of the people who tried to get me to stop were those closest to me. I mean I love him, and he is becoming more of my best friend every day… but even my husband was in the top five people who told me I couldn’t do it. Along with a few of my sisters and EVEN my mom. Literally, my best friends in life! I felt completely alone.

Did I cry when they thought I couldn’t do it? YES! Did I do it anyway? YES! Something that helped me power through was how much my children LOVED homeschooling!!! But now… now… they are teenagers, ambitious, and fearless, and they want to go and see what else they can achieve! They want to meet more people and experience what public high school has to offer.

I blame it on my fantastic storytelling skills. I tell them the stories of the teachers who blessed my life and the people I met. I encourage them to go and meet new people and try new things and enjoy life! I want to encourage my children to go for their dreams. Even if it means I feel lonely sometimes.

*I could get angry, pout, and complain about those who leave me alone. OR… What I am learning is that sometimes it is okay to check in, love yourself, and to feel alone sometimes.

That moment makes room for a special 1-on-1 time & experience with your Father in Heaven. Thank those who gave you space enough for that time to strengthen your relationship with your Heavenly Father… and remember to use that time to do so! The Choice is Yours… 🧐

My oldest daughters understood the assignment this last year and they truly, fully enjoyed their first year of public high school! 🦋

My younger boys and I are in negotiation for a few more years of home school. 😂 Why did I have to teach them so much love for learning, anyway?

For now, I am enjoying 1-on-1 time with my children. Listening to their stories, and their play, and watching them learn how to work together again. 💎

Why do I mention this? 🧐

Well, currently we are still living the camper life, but not traveling. I have so many projects going all at once which isn’t “new” for me, per se.

However, I didn’t realize how many burners I had going until I took the time to stop and write it all out. To really track and calibrate what I have going in my life right now. I was working on finding true time in my summer space to enjoy my children while keeping my business and projects running.

For example, with one project we began the permit processes back in February of this year and we have yet to break ground for this project. To say it is a frustrating moment is an understatement. When this project is complete it will be super helpful for the future projects & management of them.

The patience and mindset that I have to have for this project are intense! You see when we began this journey I was so much “smaller” than the wall ahead of me. When our family had our intense experience last summer… I went through a shrinking stage if you will, and it was as if the wall ahead of me tripled in size.

It has been a crazy difficult journey attempting to clear this wall. And all this time I thought I could clear it where and with who I was in that moment. Reality check, ah… nope!

However, the Lord has known even more than I, imagine that. 😂 He has given me this entire year to grow bigger & stronger than that wall. This is so that I can begin to see beyond the wall and eventually even step right over it and into a new part of me and my life.

Our next project is a shop & studio for my family and me to build & create in. It’s also a kind of practice project preparing us for when we build the home that we designed 2 winters ago. It also has been an interesting distraction as we wait for my mom to receive a kidney that will work for her and her body!

*Looking back and removing my longing for our home school days, I am able to clearly see my growth. At the moment it felt so hard to go against everyone else’ concerns of my possible difficulties.

Were there difficult homeschool days? Absolutely, you better believe it! But looking back did I Love it? Absolutely!!! The good outweighed the difficulties.

*Looking back on this year waiting for my mom to get her new kidney… I am not sure if I can even count how many lives she has saved by people going and getting a health scan to try to donate.

At first, we saw it as a cruel waiting game. Getting our hopes up, and then being let down. But, Check this out!! There have been people who have tried to donate for my mom who has found their heart was on its last beat if lifestyle changes were taken immediately. People have been diagnosed and treated for things like depression, anxiety, pre-diabetes, and even cancer! 😔

This roller coaster ride has been a growing experience with heartaches, tears, frustration, anger, and even and especially boundless MIRACLES! 💎 Eyes, Ears, & Hearts are opening. Even though the more I grow, the more inadequate I feel… I know that is probably a good thing.

At this moment everything feels so difficult and as if it is all moving so slowly and as if I cannot think of the right questions or even be prepared enough from one moment to the next I find myself feeling like I am too far behind. Like I am wondering, “How am I going to ‘catch up?’”

But as I look back on the lessons I have learned throughout life and even recently… it’s not that I am too far behind… it’s that I am just in the space I need to be and I need to hold the line!

When you are lost in the woods and the sun is going down and it is getting dark and cold. Isn’t the best thing to do is find your basic needs? Your water, and food, prep your shelter, and get your rest.

This week when I have felt overwhelmed I have had to do just and only that. Remember what are my basic needs? Water Food Shelter & Rest In those moments of overwhelm when you’ve just made it to the Summit of the mountain, it may just be time to sit and take a rest. We are all allowed to rest, it is up to us to give ourselves permission to do so with a purpose & Intention.

Beware of Autopilot.

Pullover… assess the reality of the situation. Where are your boundaries? Are they porous, rigid, or healthy? And what IS in your current control? Once you’ve done this… take a moment and Armor Up, my friend!

So take action, turn off your autopilot, wake up, and align your armor, now!
